“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
Family Talent Show
We can’t wait to learn more about our new pastor, Pastor Michael, and to have him share his unique talents with us! In that spirit, this week we encourage you to learn more about the talents of the people in your family…by putting on a family talent show!
Celebrate More!
In a conversation about the vast collection of significant and less-significant holidays on the website “National Today,” specifically whether the number has become excessive, Pastor Jim made a simple yet powerful observation: more reasons to celebrate is a great thing! This is very on-brand for the man who just concluded a beautiful sermon series about things we can cultivate “more” of in our lives. It’s also an insight that we encourage your family to embrace, so this week, create your own reason to celebrate. Let’s add to the ranks of National Today with MORE HOLIDAYS!
Dads Rock!
This Father’s Day, we bring you an activity that taps into the amazing gifts the father figures in our lives bring to us while capitalizing on the timeless appeal of “Dad jokes.” Today, tell your dad he rocks – literally!
Start a Picture Book Book Club!
As the meme shared during church today advised, “Remember to drink lots of water and stay indoors between 11:00 AM and November 1st.” When you’re done laughing, and the reality of what we’re in for over the next few months has started to sink in, consider this fun family activity that can be done completely indoors: a picture book book club!
D-Day Veterans, 80 Years Later
This Thursday, June 6, is a date of great significance: the 80th anniversary of D-Day – the invasion of Normandy – widely considered a major turning point of World War II. The commemoration happening in Normandy will be the most extensive in history, and your family can follow the example set by the organizers, honoring veterans of WWII and beyond for their incredible sacrifice.
