Community Connection
“Family Time” is now Community Connection! While the name has changed, the focus has not: these activities, offered by our Children’s Education Director, are designed to help families remain connected to their faith, community and each other.
Each week, a new activity is introduced during Sunday worship and then posted below. Also, don’t forget to follow Community Connection on Facebook and Instagram.
St. Patrick’s Day Blessings
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! The roots of this holiday go back hundreds of years, but much of its meaning has been lost over time. This year, don’t just celebrate Irish culture – celebrate the spirit of the day!
5 Minutes of Meditation
Rest is an easy-to-overlook component of spiritual life, but it’s an important one. In the umc.org article “Sabbath rest isn’t just for Sundays,” Rev. Dr. Ron Bell is quoted as saying that “God models for us that we start from a position of rest, not from a position of movement.” This week, deepen your Lenten observance through rest – specifically, through a personalized guided meditation.
Prayer Space
Lent is a great time to recommit to your prayer life. This week, create space for prayer by literally creating a space for prayer!
Pray, Fast, Give
As we shift gears into the season of Lent, we begin to set aside distractions and focus more intently on God. In the Catholic church, this time is characterized by three pillars: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. And while the Methodist path isn’t quite as limited, those three pillars can be a great place to start.
Whose Team Are You On?
In honor of Super Bowl Sunday, we’d like to share with you an activity adapted from one created by the folks at Ministry-to-Children.com. It uses football fandom as a window into how we tell the world what kind of person we are, and is a great way to fill the time before the kick-off!
